Job summary

Our client in Harrogate is looking for an IMI-qualified Vehicle Damage Assessor (VDA) to join a busy bodyshop. You will inspect accident-damaged vehicles, produce accurate estimates and ensure repairs meet industry standards.

The role offers £45,000 per annum, Monday to Friday, full-time and permanent, with ongoing training and development within a modern bodyshop environment.

Qualifications

• IMI qualification in Vehicle Damage Assessment or Estimating.
• Proven experience as a VDA / Estimator in a bodyshop environment.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in damage assessments.

Responsibilities

• Inspect accident-damaged vehicles and assess the extent of damage.
• Produce accurate repair estimates and identify parts and labour.
• Determine repair methods in line with manufacturer guidelines.
• Liaise with customers, insurers and workshop teams during repair.
• Monitor repairs and update estimates if new damage is found.
• Ensure estimates and repair plans are complete and precise.
• Collaborate with Panel, MET and Paint Technicians.
• Ensure repairs meet manufacturer and industry standards.
• Maintain records and repair documentation for the job file.

About the Role

Our client is a well-established automotive business with a busy bodyshop in Harrogate, and they are currently looking for an experienced IMI-qualified Vehicle Damage Assessor (VDA) to join their growing team.

This role will involve assessing accident-damaged vehicles, identifying the repairs required and producing accurate estimates to ensure vehicles are repaired safely, efficiently and to the correct industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect accident-damaged vehicles and assess the extent of damage


• Produce accurate repair estimates and identify required parts and labour


• Determine appropriate repair methods in line with manufacturer guidelines


• Liaise with customers, insurers and workshop teams throughout the repair process


• Monitor repairs and update estimates where additional damage is identified


• Ensure estimates and repair plans are completed accurately and efficiently


• Work closely with Panel, MET and Paint Technicians


• Ensure repairs comply with manufacturer and industry standards


• Maintain accurate records and repair documentation


• Support the smooth and efficient running of the bodyshop

Requirements

• IMI qualification in Vehicle Damage Assessment / Estimating


• Proven experience as a VDA / Vehicle Damage Assessor / Estimator


• Strong knowledge of vehicle body repair processes


• Experience assessing accident-damaged vehicles


• Excellent understanding of repair methods, parts and labour requirements


• Strong attention to detail and accuracy


• Excellent communication and customer service skills


• Ability to work independently and as part of a team


• Full UK Driving Licence
