Job summary

At the UK National Measurement Laboratory (NML) within LGC, the Inorganic Analysis team conducts advanced imaging and single cell ICP-MS analyses to support national and international projects. The role focuses on quantitative LA-ICPMS imaging and single cell analysis using a wide range of mass spectrometric techniques and sample preparation methods with hands-on training provided.

Qualifications

PhD in chemical or analytical sciences or equivalent experience.
Experience with hyphenated ICP-MS for quantitative imaging and/or single cell analysis preferred.
Training provided on specific instruments as needed for this role.

Responsibilities

Schedule and manage complex metrology research projects in imaging and single cell analysis.
Deliver quantitative LA-ICPMS imaging work with senior leads.
Develop analytical methodologies for ICPMS or laser ablation for quantitative elemental analysis.
Maintain records per quality procedures and review colleagues' work.
Present findings, train others, and promote analytical methodology.
Maintain calibration, preventive maintenance, and inventory for imaging and single cell areas.
Follow procedures to ensure quality and safety compliance.
Stay updated on advancements in LA-ICPMS imaging and related techniques.
