Job summary

National Physical Laboratory (NPL) seeks a highly motivated scientist to lead data-intensive bioinformatics and mass spectrometry imaging projects. You will develop robust analytical workflows, apply statistical models and machine learning to large -omics datasets, and translate insights into practical measurement solutions.

As a Higher Scientist you will mentor colleagues, establish collaborations, and represent NPL externally.

Qualifications

• PhD in bioinformatics, computational biology, computer science, data science, analytical chemistry, or an -omics discipline.
• Strong coding and data analysis skills; comfortable with large multidimensional datasets.
• Experience developing robust analytical workflows, statistical models or ML approaches.
• Experience communicating findings through reports, publications or presentations.

Responsibilities

• Mentor colleagues and share learnings to raise the team's capabilities.
• Develop partnerships to strengthen capability and drive collaborative projects.
• Act as an ambassador externally and promote NPL's work.
• Provide technical support for bids and customer engagements.
