Job summary

University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust is recruiting an Imaging Care Assistant to support the Medical Imaging Service Line at Derriford Hospital and affiliated sites. You will help ensure safe, efficient patient flow and assist clinicians during scans across MRI, CT, ultrasound and other modalities.

The role requires flexibility to work weekdays, weekends, evenings, nights and bank holidays on a roster. You will accompany patients, provide reassurance, register and book in, transport, and help

Qualifications

• Experience in customer service or caring field.
• Experience working in a healthcare environment.
• Competence with Microsoft Office and databases.

Responsibilities

• Accompany patients to and from the scan room and assist with changes if needed.
• Support Radiographers during examinations using manual handling where required.
• Keep scan rooms clean, tidy and stocked.
• Explain imaging procedures to patients and report concerns to radiographer.
• Provide reassurance and emotional support to anxious patients.
• Coordinate tasks in Synbiotix portering system and assess clinical urgency.
• Transport patients and move equipment between modalities as needed.
• Follow infection control precautions and monitor for risks.
