Royal Mencap Society is seeking an Identity & Access Governance Analyst to protect and govern access to systems and data across the organisation. The role focuses on implementing role-based access controls, lifecycle management and strong authentication across cloud platforms.
You will collaborate with Help Desk and Governance teams to ensure secure, compliant identity management, while advancing Zero Trust initiatives and automated controls across Microsoft Entra ID and Microsoft 365.
Digital, Data & Technology (DDaT) plays a vital role in enabling Mencap to deliver safe, reliable and effective services for people with a learning disability. Across the organisation, colleagues depend on secure, seamless access to digital systems, applications and data to support day-to-day operations and provide high-quality services.
Within this environment, the Identity & Access Governance Analyst is key to maintaining that trust. The role ensures that access to systems and information is properly governed, controlled and managed, helping to protect Mencap’s digital landscape while enabling colleagues to work efficiently and securely.
We are recruiting for an Identity & Access Governance Analyst on a full time (37.5 hours), permanent basis.
This is a hybrid role requiring a minimum of three days per week onsite at our Peterborough office. Onsite presence is expected to support collaboration with service and governance teams and to ensure effective management of access requests and controls. The role may also require ad-hoc travel to other Mencap locations where necessary.
In this role, you will be at the heart of protecting Mencap’s digital environment, ensuring that access to systems and sensitive information is carefully governed, controlled and aligned to organisational policy. You will oversee how identity and access is managed across the technology estate, making sure colleagues have the right level of access at the right time while actively reducing security risks through the application of role-based access controls and least privilege principles.
Working collaboratively with teams across the Help Desk, Digital Platforms Squad and Enterprise Governance, you will ensure that identity and access management practices are applied consistently, securely and in line with regulatory requirements. You will take ownership of identity lifecycle processes, managing and assuring joiners, movers and leavers, overseeing privileged access, conducting access reviews and maintaining strong authentication controls across cloud and SaaS platforms.
You will play a key part in advancing Mencap’s journey towards modern identity security and Zero Trust, implementing and operating automated, policy-driven controls that strengthen governance and improve efficiency. Using tools such as Microsoft Entra ID and Microsoft 365, you will design and maintain conditional access policies and identity governance solutions that are robust, auditable and effective.
You will be trusted to challenge and scrutinise access requests, ensuring they meet organisational standards and do not compromise segregation of duties or security principles. Alongside this, you will support audit and compliance activities, maintaining accurate records and evidence that demonstrate strong governance and control.
As part of a continuous improvement mindset, you will actively identify opportunities to enhance automation, strengthen controls and reduce operational risk, helping to build a more resilient and mature identity and access management capability across Mencap.
Experience working in identity and access management, identity governance, cyber security operations or enterprise technology support within a complex organisation.
Applications will close on the 20th September, and interviews will take place w/c 28th September.
