Edwards Vacuum in Bristol is offering a Year In Industry placement for 12 months. You will work with experienced colleagues, take on real responsibilities and contribute to meaningful projects that complement your studies.

This hands-on experience includes ongoing support to develop professional and technical skills. You will gain insight into working in industry and build experience to help you stand out as you take the next steps in your career.

Responsabilidades

• The role requires an ability to work in an industrial lab environment and observe Edwards EHS rules and guidelines.
• Analytical chemistry tasks including installation of test gases, leak checking of test equipment, analysis of gases using FTIR, mass spectrometry and electrochemical cells; data analysis and reporting.
• Contribute to innovative technology development or product improvement; perform risk assessments on prototype equipment or lab test rigs; interact with team members.
• Collect data and write detailed reports; present results concisely and clearly.

Main Responsibilities

• The role requires an ability to work in an industrial lab environment and observe Edwards EHS rules and guidelines.
• Analytical chemistry skills including; instillation of test gases, leak checking of test equipment, analysis of gases using equipment including FTIR, mass spec, electrochemical cells, analysis and write up of data.
• Ability to contribute to innovative technology development or product improvement. Carry out risk assessments on prototype equipment or lab test rigs and to operate them safely. Ability to interact with other members of the team.
• Collect accurate data and writeup detailed and accurate reports on experimental work. Ability to present and convey the results of this work in a concise and clear

• The ideal placement student needs to design, build and operate experiments with the aim of experiencing working in an experimental lab; you are expected to collect data, analyse, write‑up and report results of your experiments. You will be consistently supported by more experienced staff.
• You will need to be confident in discussing process, chemical and abatement issues within the team and when needed to other teams, you must be able to use available resources on site to perform basic analysis of flow conditions and abatement performance.
• You are expected to be mechanically adept, being able to upgrade and modify systems when setting up experimental conditions.
• You are expected to follow and participate in the writing of the relevant safety documentation and procedures relevant to their experimental work.
• Ability to self‑motivate and work as an individual in a safe and efficient way.
