We’re working with a large UK organisation looking to add an experienced ICT Infrastructure Operations Engineer to its internal technology team.
This is a broad infrastructure position combining 3rd Line technical support with automation. It would suit someone who enjoys more than simply working through support tickets and wants to take greater ownership of improving, automating and maintaining a Microsoft-based IT environment.
You’ll work across both Azure and on‑premise infrastructure, acting as an escalation point for complex technical issues while identifying repetitive tasks and processes that can be automated.
You’ll work closely with the wider Infrastructure and IT teams, providing high‑level technical support while helping improve how the environment is managed.
Your responsibilities will include:
The core requirement is a strong Microsoft infrastructure background combined with hands‑on PowerShell experience and an interest in automation.
You don’t need to tick every technical box, but experience across some of the following would be beneficial:
You could be an experienced 2nd Line Engineer looking to step into a more senior 3rd Line position, or an existing 3rd Line Engineer looking for greater exposure to automation and project work.
Technical ability is important, but this role also requires someone who is proactive and takes ownership rather than simply waiting for tickets to come through.
You should be someone who can look at a repetitive technical task, understand why it is being done manually and think about how it could be automated or improved.
You’ll suit the role particularly well if you enjoy troubleshooting complex problems, working across different areas of infrastructure and getting involved in projects alongside your day‑to‑day support responsibilities.
The ideal person will be comfortable communicating with different stakeholders, managing their own workload and taking responsibility for technical issues through to resolution.
The role is based in Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire.
The working pattern is hybrid, with 3 days per week onsite.
Due to the onsite requirement, being within a realistic commuting distance of Hoddesdon is important.
