Job summary

Franklin Bates is seeking a hands-on Cloud & Infrastructure Engineer to provide senior-level support across a Microsoft-focused environment. You will work with the IT Manager and team on security, migration, and infrastructure improvements, taking ownership of complex issues.

The role covers 3rd-line escalation, Azure/M365 administration, Entra ID, Intune, Windows Server, networking and automation using PowerShell, with a focus on resilience and cloud migration journeys.

Qualifications

• Hands-on 3rd-line infrastructure experience across Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365.
• Experience with Entra ID, Intune and Windows Server in production environments.
• Strong networking, backup/disaster recovery and PowerShell skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior-level technical support across a Microsoft-focused infrastructure.
• Act as escalation point with IT Manager and wider IT team.
• Contribute to security, cloud migration and infrastructure improvement work.
• 3rd-line infrastructure support and incident resolution.

£350–£400 per day, outside IR35 – subject to final determination

3-month initial contract, likely extension for a further 3 months

Join a well-established not-for-profit organisation as a hands-on Cloud & Infrastructure Engineer,providing senior-level technical support across a Microsoft-focused infrastructure environment while contributing to security, cloud migration and infrastructure improvement work.

Working closely with the IT Manager and wider IT team, you will act as the senior technical escalation point above an established service desk function, taking ownership of complex infrastructure issues and helping maintain a secure, resilient and well-managed environment.

What you will be working on

• 3rd-line infrastructure support across a Microsoft environment
• Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, Entra ID and Intune administration
• Windows Server and hybrid infrastructure support
• Networking, troubleshooting and network engineering
• Backup, disaster recovery and infrastructure resilience
• Security remediation, patching and vulnerability management
• PowerShell scripting and administration
• Supporting the migration of an on-premise office environment towards Azure / SharePoint
• Identifying opportunities to improve and automate existing technical processes

What we are looking for

You will be an experienced Infrastructure, Systems or Cloud Engineer with strong hands‑on experience across:

• Microsoft 365
• Windows Server
• Networking
• Backup and disaster recovery
• PowerShell
• Strong 3rd-line troubleshooting and incident resolution

Experience introducing automation or automated infrastructure processes would be particularly useful, although this is not essential.

You will need to be comfortable operating independently, taking ownership of technical issues and working closely with both junior support colleagues and senior IT stakeholders.
