Job Title: IBP Lead: Spine, Robotics & Power Tools GCF: 26

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an IBP Lead to join the UK DePuy Synthes business at a pivotal time in our evolution as a more focused, standalone orthopaedics company. This role will play a critical part in connecting commercial ambition, customer need, inventory discipline and supply chain execution — helping ensure the right products, instruments and investment are available where they are needed most. Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Orthopedics business to establish a standalone orthopedics company, operating as DePuy Synthes. The process of the planned separation is anticipated to be completed within 18 to 24 months, subject to legal requirements, including consultation with works councils and other employee representative bodies, as may be required, regulatory approvals and other customary conditions and approvals. Should you accept this position, it is anticipated that, following conclusion of the transaction, you would be an employee of DePuy Synthes and your employment would be governed by DePuy Synthes employment processes, programs, policies, and benefit plans. In that case, details of any planned changes would be provided to you by DePuy Synthes at an appropriate time and subject to any necessary consultation processes.

In this role, you will lead investment and supply planning for the Spine, Robotics & Power Tools business, translating commercial strategy into robust demand signals, capital plans and inventory decisions. You will partner closely with Sales, Marketing, Finance, Regional Supply Chain and Global Planning teams to balance growth, service, inventory and cost — supporting customer outcomes while strengthening business performance. The role requires curiosity, pace, commercial judgement and the confidence to challenge how we work today.

Key areas of responsibility:
  • Partner with Commercial, Finance and Supply Chain leaders to ensure capital expenditure and inventory decisions support growth priorities, customer commitments and financial targets.
  • Lead monthly engagement with field sales teams to build investment plans that are commercially grounded, financially disciplined and netted against under‑utilised assets.
  • Convert local investment plans into clear upstream demand signals that are accurately reflected in Global Demand Planning systems.
  • Coordinate network capacity planning with UK and EMEA warehouses and kitting branch plants to enable on-time consignment shipments to hospitals in line with agreed investment plans.
  • Act as a trusted business partner to the Commercial organisation, ensuring customer and commercial investment needs are planned, prioritised and delivered through the end‑to‑end supply chain.
  • Optimise consignment stock levels through deployment planning, supporting inventory reduction, improved utilisation and service reliability.
  • Manage the consignment order book proactively, identifying supply gaps early and working with the International Deployment Group to expedite, unblock and resolve issues.
  • Drive effective use of consignment sets available in Loaners, UK Kit Build and regional hubs, with particular focus on under‑utilised assets.
  • Lead IBP alignment meetings for the business units in scope, creating clear visibility of demand, risks, trade‑offs and decisions required with Business Unit Directors and their teams.
  • Champion simplification, digital enablement and continuous improvement, using data, analytics and emerging technology to improve decision quality, visibility and speed.
  • Act as a cross‑functional connector across Customer Services, Commercial, Deliver, Finance, Global Planning and Regional Supply Chain, building alignment around shared priorities.
What success looks like:

Clear, insight‑led investment plans that support commercial priorities and customer needs.

Stronger alignment between sales ambition, inventory choices and supply execution.

Improved visibility of risks, trade‑offs and decisions required across the IBP cycle.

A culture of ownership, constructive challenge, collaboration and continuous improvement.

Practical use of digital tools and analytics to simplify work and improve outcomes.

Education and Qualifications:

Educated to degree level, ideally in Supply Chain, Business, Finance, Engineering or a commercially orientated subject.

Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in planning, sourcing, supply chain, S&OP, IBP or commercially connected business planning.

Experience and Skills: Required:

Strong understanding of relevant technology and tools, including advanced analytics, to support the continued digital transformation of modern supply chain. A growth mindset, with the resilience and curiosity to learn quickly, challenge constructively and adapt in a changing environment. Ability to build a deep understanding of customer, commercial and supply chain priorities within the business areas supported. Commitment to continuous improvement, with a practical, data‑driven approach to decision making. Able to work effectively in a fast‑paced environment, prioritising multiple projects while maintaining focus on the most important business outcomes. Strong stakeholder leadership, with the ability to build trust, influence decisions and create alignment across functions. Ability to tailor communication across levels and functions, presenting complex information clearly to diverse audiences. Strong judgement and decision‑making capability, including the ability to provide clear direction where trade‑offs are required.

Preferred: End‑to‑end supply chain background or strong interest desirable. Experience within the Medical Devices industry is desirable. Experience working with complex business processes and demand planning or ERP systems such as JDE, SAP or equivalent would be advantageous. Experience in scenario planning, risk management or decision support is preferred.

You will be joining a business with strong heritage, renewed focus and a culture that values ownership, collaboration, pace and continuous improvement.
