Job summary

Stantec is seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to join the Hydropower & Dams team in a role spanning concept design through to construction and operation support. You will work with project managers and multidisciplinary teams on dam and hydropower schemes for UK and international projects.

The role emphasizes advisory and delivery responsibilities, including Owner’s Engineer activities, 3D design, and collaboration across disciplines to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status with the ICE or progress toward this.
• Experience in civil design of dams, hydropower, or pumped storage schemes or related hydraulic structures.
• Strong understanding of multidisciplinary project delivery and how civil engineering integrates with structural, geotechnical, and M&E disciplines.
• Experience producing technical specifications, designs, and engineering reports.
• Ideally experience delivering designs for both client-side and design & build (D&B) projects.
• Experience working within 3D design environments and Common Data Environments (CDEs).

Responsibilities

• Support delivery from concept design through to detailed design and construction.
• Provide advisory work and Owner’s Engineer services to clients.
• Lead client-facing concept design and contractor-facing detailed design.
• Support installation, remediation and troubleshooting activities.
• Contribute to due diligence, lender’s engineer services, and insurance assessments.
