Job summary

CHG Electrical is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer in Sheffield with 3–5+ years of design experience in water or utilities projects. You’ll develop pump, pipework, valve and tank layouts, integrate with civil and electrical disciplines, and support MEICA delivery across water infrastructure.

The role offers hybrid working (1–2 days home-based), a £45,000–£50,000 salary, and a performance bonus. Full-time, permanent with flexitime and CPD opportunities.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• 3–5+ years' mechanical design experience in utilities, infrastructure or water projects.
• Experience designing pumps, pipework, valves, tanks and process plant.

Responsibilities

• Prepare mechanical designs, drawings and calculations for pumps, pipework, valves, tanks and process plant.
• Develop P&IDs, GA layouts and equipment schedules for project mobilisation.
• Coordinate with civil, electrical and other teams to ensure buildability and integration.
