Job summary

AWD online is seeking a part-time Volunteer Coordinator to develop and coordinate a volunteer programme across East Sussex. You will oversee volunteers, support survivors, and work with partners to promote services while ensuring safeguarding and data protection compliance.

The role involves 20 hours per week, hybrid working from East Sussex with some weekly on-site presence, and occasional travel to partner locations. A rewarding position with strong community impact.

Qualifications

• Experience in the voluntary sector or similar environment.
• Experience coordinating volunteers, staff, projects, or planned activities.
• Experience delivering training, inductions, or group sessions.
• Understanding of domestic abuse and working with survivors or perpetrators.
• Experience in multi‑agency settings and with the Criminal Justice System.
• Practical knowledge of volunteering and risk management.
• Strong communication and relationship-building abilities.
• Ability to influence, motivate and engage others.
• Excellent organisational skills and managing competing deadlines.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and case tracking systems.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and supervise a team of volunteers, providing guidance and training.
• Promote services, assess referrals and allocate volunteer support.
• Develop relationships with colleagues, professionals and community organisations.
• Identify and manage risks, ensuring safe practice and boundaries.
• Organise regular volunteer meetings, events and outreach activities.
• Assist with recruitment, interviews and induction of volunteers.
• Support storytelling and case studies to demonstrate impact.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation.
• Represent the organisation at external meetings and events.
• Support safeguarding practices and data protection compliance.
• Support mentor/mentee relationships and professional development.
