Job summary

Walk Wheel Cycle Trust in Bristol Hub is seeking an Urban Designer to join a multi-disciplinary team focused on creating high-quality, sustainable infrastructure for walking, wheeling and cycling.

You will design and deliver projects with specialists, engage communities and ensure inclusive, active travel outcomes. The role offers a hybrid working pattern and a permanent contract with DBS as part of safeguarding school and community work.

Qualifications

• Design degree or equivalent qualification inUrban Design, Landscape Architecture, Architecture or equivalent with at least two years of experience, or five years in a relevant design role.
• Competence in AutoCAD suite including Civil 3D and other packages.
• Knowledge of street and active travel design guidance, healthy street design, inclusive design principles.
• Ability to create places and routes that enable active travel while ensuring safety and inclusion.

Responsibilities

• Produce accurate technical design outputs using AutoCAD and other design software.
• Collaborate with internal teams to deliver design outputs and reports supporting strategy.
• Engage with external partners and communities to shape solutions.
• Lead community engagement related to infrastructure design where appropriate.
• Manage projects through RIBA stages from start to finish.
• Apply guidance from Active Travel England, Manual for Streets, and related standards.
