Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Technical Director / Associate Director in Ground Engineering to lead the technical development of the Ground Engineering team, strengthen client relationships and drive growth. You will mentor staff, oversee geotechnical analyses and coordinate multi-disciplinary projects across transport, water, energy and buildings sectors.

Qualifications

• A degree in Civil Engineering or Engineering Geology with a 2:1 classification (or equivalent) or higher.
• An MSc/MEng in Soil Mechanics, Geotechnical Engineering or Engineering Geology is advantageous.
• Chartered status.
• Strong knowledge of UK ground conditions and ground investigation practices.
• Understanding of current design codes, standards, and best practices in geotechnical design.
• Ability to collaborate in project delivery, work winning and client satisfaction.
• Ability to develop and maintain relationships with internal/external stakeholders.
• Effective networking to promote the AECOM brand as a preferred partner.
• Passion for developing team members into the next generation of engineers and leaders.

Responsibilities

• Overseeing input, peer review and verification of geotechnical data and analyses as well as design calculations.
• Providing consultative advice to external partners during all stages of the project life cycle including site-selection and optioneering, design and construction.
• Effectively managing geotechnical projects including planning and developing schedules, co-ordination and to meet objectives, programme and budget.
• Providing leadership and support to the Ground Engineering team to ensure successful delivery of projects to clients and internal partners.
• Maintaining relationships with past, current and prospective customers to support a steady pipeline of opportunities.
• Taking the Ground Engineering lead for multi-disciplinary project delivery to internal and external stakeholders.
• Collaborating with Transport, Water, Energy and Buildings teams to contribute inputs to projects and tenders.
• Mentoring and developing junior team members.
