Job summary

Leonardo in the UK Basildon campus is seeking a Software Engineer Summer Placement student to work with developers on real‑world projects from day one. You will gain hands‑on experience across the software development lifecycle in a multidisciplinary team, with coaching from experienced engineers.

Spend part of your placement on site to integrate with your team, while you develop practical design and programming skills in Java, C++, and related technologies, preparing you for an industry career

Qualifications

• Currently studying a science-based degree such as Software Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics or Electronic Engineering.
• Must have some programming experience from studies or personal projects.
• Familiarity with object-oriented languages (Java/C++/C#/JavaScript) and UML is a plus.
• Include courses/projects studied and grades in CV.
• Some candidates with a first degree seeking industrial experience are welcome.

• Gaining experience by applying software engineering knowledge as part of a multi-disciplinary Integrated Project Team.
• Developing practical design skills for products.
• Growing understanding of the business and the software engineering lifecycle.
