Job summary

RTX in the United Kingdom is seeking a Hybrid Submarine Modelling & Simulation Engineer to gather technical data, support DSAT simulations, and collaborate with software and systems teams to ensure fidelity of models and emulations.

The role requires experience with training data, a proactive approach to data acquisition, and a strong foundation in engineering practices within a defence context. Flexible site options include remote, hybrid, or on-site arrangements.

Qualifications

• Proven at sea experience as a Cat A or Cat B Nuclear watchkeeper.
• Desire to learn and apply best engineering practices with training/simulation environment.
• Desirable electrical background. Fwd ME duties.
• Experience operating or configuring simulators for training purposes.
• Knowledge of Agile development processes.
• Experience of git-based version control systems.
• Familiarity with creating and editing structured documents such as JSON or XML Training requirements, design or delivery.
• Member of a Boat Build Crew DE&S/SDA.

Responsibilities

• Work as a member of the wider team responsible for the analysis, design, maintenance, review and production of DSAT Documentation & processes for our Customer’s training sites and organisations.
• Interviewing subject matter experts to collate required data, participate in internal workshops to discuss and agree findings from analysis.
• Work with the customer and the customer’s agents and suppliers to identify technical data required for courseware and media development and also external routes to obtain the data.
• Work with the systems engineering team to identify required levels of fidelity, accuracy and responsiveness and document this for the software engineering & modelling teams to implement.
• Configure operational parameters of simulators and emulators during development and testing phases.
• Identify where training methods and media currently in use in the Customer may be exploited to better develop and deliver the Programme’s courseware.
• Be ‘Responsible for championing and fostering a culture of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) compliance and continuous improvement’.
• Any other duties required to complete the Simulation and Modelling function within the engineering dept.
