Job summary

Contact Solar, part of EDF, is seeking an experienced Solar PV & Battery Technical Supervisor to join the Completions team in Chorley. This role offers an off-the-tools technical pathway while staying closely involved in live domestic solar PV and battery installations.

You’ll act as the assigned Technical Supervisor for installations, ensuring safety and compliance, reviewing designs and documentation, and supporting audits.

Qualifications

• Requires a recognised Level 3 electrotechnical qualification.
• Current BS 7671 qualification is essential.
• Inspection and Testing qualification (e.g. City & Guilds 2391-52) preferred.
• Current solar PV and energy storage qualifications or MCS Technical Supervisor competence.
• Experience in installing, commissioning, inspecting or supervising domestic solar PV and storage.
• Strong knowledge of MCS, Building Regulations, DNO, and manufacturer's instructions.
• Ability to review designs, test results and installation evidence for compliance.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to explain technical requirements to installers and customers.

Responsibilities

• Act as assigned Technical Supervisor for solar PV and battery installations, ensuring safety, standards, quality and compliance.
• Determine appropriate supervision level for each installation based on work and crew competence.
• Monitor live installation evidence and perform remote technical checks via photos, documents, calls and video reviews.
• Request further evidence or corrective actions and escalate when necessary.
• Review electrical certification, tests, commissioning records and customer handover evidence.
• Ensure compliance with MCS, BS 7671, Building Regulations and manufacturer instructions.
• Approve installations or raise non-conformances and remedial requirements where needed.
• Close technical non-conformances after remedial work is demonstrated.
• Maintain auditable records of supervision decisions and technical reviews.
• Support MCS audits and provide technical feedback to partners and teams.
• Assist with technical queries and customer escalations across teams.
