Low Carbon Contracts Company is seeking a Mid‑Level Software Engineer to join the Tech Hub delivery team in Birmingham. You will contribute to critical digital systems supporting Net Zero by 2050, delivering secure, maintainable software with increasing autonomy.

The role collaborates with Senior Engineers, Product, QA, DevOps, UX/UI, and Architects. It requires solid coding, system design, and a drive to grow technical capability in a cross‑functional setting.

Qualifications

• Hands‑on experience in Python and web‑development framework (e.g., Django) and JavaScript/TypeScript, ideally in cloud environments such as AWS, Azure or GCP.
• Strong understanding of core software engineering principles.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing and version control.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a cross‑functional team.
• Willingness to learn new tools, technologies and domain knowledge.
• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent professional experience.

Responsibilities

• Coding & Development: Write, test and maintain high‑quality, secure and reliable code.
• System Design & Architecture: Contribute to feature‑level design discussions and solution proposals.
• Code Review & Quality: Participate in peer code reviews, apply patterns and best practices.
• Technical Leadership: Follow guidance from senior engineers and leads, contribute ideas and risks.
• Project Execution: Deliver design through development, testing and deployment with accurate estimates.
• Mentorship & Development: Learn from teammates and share learnings to support others.
• Collaboration & Communication: Work with Product, QA, DevOps, UI/UX, architects to deliver goals.
• Problem Solving: Tackle well‑defined problems with structured approaches.
