Job summary

SAS in Glasgow, UK, is seeking a Manager, Software Development for the Risk R&D, AI, Architecture & Innovation team. The role focuses on hands-on software development and technical leadership in a dynamic, security-conscious environment.

You will design, review, and deliver high‑quality code while mentoring engineers, coordinating with product managers and stakeholders, and driving key initiatives to meet regulatory and R&D standards. Hybrid work arrangement offered.

Qualifications

Requires a minimum of eight years of related programming or testing experience, including one year of project lead, supervisory or management experience.
Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field
Strong knowledge of generative AI, the software development lifecycle, and at least one object-oriented language.
Demonstrated ability to mentor or lead others, set clear goals and expectations, provide timely feedback, and build an inclusive and accountable engineering culture.
Proof of right to work in the UK
Equivalent combination of related education, training and experience may be considered in place of the above qualifications.

Responsibilities

Lead development project designs and enforce technical standards.
Provide technical leadership to the team through code reviews, mentoring, training and managing the activities of the team.
Collaborate with project stakeholders to ensure implementation satisfies functional requirements and is consistent with established R&D standards.
Manage and lead project scoping and scheduling; track progress and alert executives of concerns while following R&D standards.
Maintain accountability for the entire life cycle of the code including support for internal and external consumers.
Contribute to product direction through collaboration with Product Management, Marketing, Sales, and others.
Manage all aspects of the team including teamwork, performance management and growth with HR support.
Work with senior management to develop, prioritize, and assign project objectives and responsibilities.
Engage with upper management in major decisions and complex issues.
Perform hands-on development tasks including coding, reviews, tests, and feature design.
Ensure security policies and processes align with the organization's secure software goals.
