Job summary

SAS is seeking an Associate Software Developer for a hybrid role in Glasgow, UK. You will contribute to a cloud-native platform for financial-risk solutions, working on backend services, a SAS programming layer, a web UI, and deployment/testing tooling.

You will fix defects, write code and tests, and participate in code reviews, with emphasis on collaboration, curiosity, and secure development practices. Prior experience with Docker/Kubernetes and JavaScript/React is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or in progress in computer science, engineering, mathematics or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Programming experience in at least one language such as Python, Go, Java or C#.
• Basic SQL, such as writing SELECT queries with joins and filters.
• Basic understanding of REST APIs and HTTP.
• Basic familiarity with Git and the command line.
• Curiosity and patience when debugging, and willingness to ask questions.
• Clear written English.
• Proof of Right to work in the UK.
• Equivalent combination of related education, training and experience.

Responsibilities

• Use AI-assisted development tools in daily work and learn to check their output.
• Ensure all applicable security policies and processes are followed to support secure software development.

About the job

The Research and Development Risk team is looking for an Associate Software Developer. We build and support a cloud-native platform for SAS's financial-risk solutions, used by banks and insurers around the world. The platform runs on Kubernetes and is built from backend services, a SAS programming layer, a web UI, and tooling for deployment and testing.

We're a collaborative team that works on new features and customer support, and ships updates regularly. We value careful investigation, clear communication and sharing knowledge.

As an Associate Software Developer, you will:
