Job summary

North Yorkshire Council is seeking a Service Designer to join the Transformation service and shape the design and improvement of council services for thousands of residents. You will work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team, supported by senior colleagues and a development-focused manager.

You will help teams understand user needs, map current services, identify pain points, and test better ways of working before changes are made. Hybrid and flexible working options are available.

Qualifications

• Experience with user-centred design approaches.
• Ability to facilitate workshops and collaborative sessions with stakeholders.
• Strong communication skills with colleagues and stakeholders.
• Motivated to learn, develop and grow within the role.

Responsibilities

• Support the design and improvement of services using user-centred design principles.
• Work with colleagues to understand user needs and service challenges.
• Contribute to user research, journey mapping and prototyping.
• Help facilitate workshops and collaborative sessions with stakeholders.
• Promote service design best practice across the organisation.
