Yorkshire Water is seeking a Senior Planning Engineer for a fixed-term nine-month contract in Leeds. You will influence development planning across Yorkshire, lead complex assessments, and engage with authorities, developers and internal teams to protect assets and support sustainable growth.

The role emphasizes technical leadership, collaboration with stakeholders, and delivery of high-quality planning outcomes within a hybrid working environment.

Qualificações

• A degree in a science or engineering discipline, ideally Civil Engineering.
• Strong understanding of sewerage networks, flood risk, and development context.
• Knowledge of planning legislation, including the Town and Country Planning Act.
• Appreciation of water and wastewater networks and their interaction with growth.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to present technical information clearly.
• Proven experience building relationships, influencing stakeholders and negotiating outcomes.
• Experience coaching or developing colleagues and driving service excellence.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
• Proactive, resilient and customer-focused approach; IT skills including MS 365.

Responsabilidades

• Lead the technical assessment of planning applications, promoting sustainable drainage solutions and asset protection.
• Act as subject matter expert on sewer network infrastructure and flood risk.
• Build trusted relationships with Local Planning Authorities, developers, and consultants.
• Influence planning outcomes by negotiating sustainable development aligned with operational needs.
• Provide coaching and technical guidance to Development Technicians and colleagues.
• Support forecasting, performance reporting and delivery against business targets.
• Champion continuous improvement in planning and development processes.
