Job summary

Yorkshire Water is recruiting a Lead Design Engineer to provide technical leadership across multidisciplinary projects within our AMP8 investment programme. The role is based in Bradford, moving to Leeds Valley Park in Summer 2026, and offers hybrid working with one day per week in the office.

You will oversee concept to commissioning stages, review design documentation, drive standardisation and innovation, and mentor engineers and graduates.

Qualifications

• Significant engineering design experience within water, wastewater, bioresources or comparable infrastructure sectors.
• Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Knowledge of engineering quality assurance and document control principles.
• Commitment to safety, sustainability and engineering excellence.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and engineering expertise across multidisciplinary projects.
• Support projects from concept and optioneering through detailed design, construction and commissioning.
• Work with partners to ensure high-quality engineering outcomes and compliance with standards.
• Review and assure engineering design documentation, ensuring compliance with Yorkshire Water standards and regulations.
• Mentor engineers and graduates, promoting health and safety, sustainability and engineering quality.
