Job summary

Bennett and Game Recruitment LTD in Cardiff invites an experienced Associate Civil Engineer to lead the Civil Engineering capability across the South West, Wales and Midlands. The role blends technical delivery with project leadership and client development.

You will work with senior management and the BD team to grow a dedicated Civil Engineering team, take ownership of projects from concept to delivery, and mentor junior engineers in a collaborative, growth-oriented environment.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Significant UK consultancy experience in Civil Engineering.
• Strong background in development infrastructure and building-related Civil Engineering.
• Experience with drainage strategies and detailed drainage design.
• Knowledge of flood risk assessment.
• Experience with Section 38 and Section 278 schemes.
• Strong technical design and project management capability.
• Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
• Good commercial awareness including project budgets and fee proposals.
• Strong client-facing and relationship-building skills.
• Experience mentoring engineers.
• Ability to provide technical leadership across complex projects.
• Business development experience advantageous.
• Chartered Engineer status advantageous but not essential.
• Existing Principal Civil Engineers aiming to progress to Associate.
• Existing relationships with developers or housebuilders advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Civil Engineering capability across the South West, Wales and Midlands.
• Scope projects and prepare fee proposals.
• Assist with business development to grow Civil Engineering offering and develop client relationships.
• Attend client meetings to establish project requirements and provide technical advice.
• Oversee Civil Engineering projects from concept through implementation.
• Deliver drainage strategies and flood risk assessments and drainage design.
• Manage development highways work including Section 38 and Section 278.
• Develop technical reports and designs.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers.
• Build and lead regional Civil Engineering team.
