Job summary

AECOM recruits graduates for the Rail Electrical Engineering stream in Swindon, joining a structured GDP that develops engineers for global rail projects. You’ll work on design, integration and delivery of electrical systems across multiple rail schemes in a collaborative, safety-focused environment.

Qualifications

• BEng Electrical Engineering with a 2:1 or above.
• MEng Electrical Engineering would be an advantage.
• Rail modules or experience would be an advantage.
• Good technical understanding of Rail/Electrical Engineering.
• Demonstrable interest in Rail/Electrical Engineering and developing a career in this industry.
• Willing and able to work towards chartership with the IET.
• Proficient with Word, Excel & PowerPoint.
• Excellent communication to clients and colleagues, both written and verbal.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design of rail electrical systems including lighting, small power, earthing and bonding, points heating, traction power and LV/HV distribution networks.
• Support site surveys, condition assessments and inspections to inform design decisions.
• Use industry software and BIM tools to produce drawings and design documentation.
• Collaborate with signaling, telecoms and civils teams to integrate electrical designs.
• Plan and phase electrical construction and commissioning to minimise disruption.
• Develop designs that promote sustainability, efficiency and maintainability.
• Ensure designs are safe to construct, operate and maintain.
• Support electrical systems for stations, depots and railway facilities.
• Participate in project reviews and client meetings to enhance communication.
