Job summary

Arriva TrainCare in Thurmaston is seeking a proactive Management Accountant for a 6-month fixed term contract. You will join the UK Bus Finance Shared Services team, taking ownership of key month-end activities and contributing to reporting, controls and process improvements.

The role suits part-qualified accountants (ACCA/CIMA/ACA) with experience in management or financial accounting, strong Excel skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Part-qualified ACCA, CIMA or ACA (or equivalent relevant experience).
• Experience within a management accounting or financial accounting environment.
• Strong understanding of month-end processes, journals, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Good Excel skills and confidence with finance systems.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Ability to work independently while managing competing priorities and deadlines.
• A collaborative and proactive approach with strong stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of month-end activities including journals, accruals and prepayments.
• Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, investigating and resolving outstanding items.
• Support the production of monthly management accounts and period-end reporting.
• Assist with statutory, tax and group reporting requirements.
• Provide information and supporting documentation for internal and external audits.
• Work closely with Finance Business Partners and colleagues across Shared Services to resolve queries and support operational decision-making.
• Maintain process documentation and ensuring adherence to internal controls and governance requirements.
• Identify opportunities to improve, standardise and simplify processes across the R2R function.
• Provide flexible support across the wider finance team during busy reporting periods.
