Job summary

ARRIVA UK BUS LTD is seeking a Management Accountant for the Record to Report function on a 6-month fixed-term contract in Thurmaston. The role is hybrid, with at least three days in the office, and offers broad exposure to month-end, reconciliations and reporting.

You will support balance sheet reporting, statutory and group reporting, and audits, working closely with Finance Business Partners in a large Shared Services environment.

Qualifications

• Part-qualified ACCA, CIMA or ACA (or equivalent relevant experience).
• Experience within a management accounting or financial accounting environment.
• Strong understanding of month-end processes, journals, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Good Excel skills and confidence working with finance systems.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Ability to work independently while managing competing priorities and deadlines.
• Collaborative and proactive approach with strong stakeholder management skills.
• Experience in Shared Services environment.
• Experience in large or complex organisation.
• Oracle E-Business Suite experience.
• Exposure to process improvement or finance transformation initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Taking ownership of key month-end activities including journals, accruals and prepayments.
• Preparing and reviewing balance sheet reconciliations, investigating and resolving outstanding items.
• Supporting the production of monthly management accounts and period-end reporting.
• Assisting with statutory, tax and group reporting requirements.
• Providing information and supporting documentation for internal and external audits.
• Working closely with Finance Business Partners and colleagues across Shared Services to resolve queries and support operational decision-making.
• Maintaining process documentation and ensuring adherence to internal controls and governance requirements.
• Identifying opportunities to improve, standardise and simplify processes across the R2R function.
• Providing flexible support across the wider finance team during busy reporting periods.
