Job summary

John Lewis & Partners is seeking a Product Development Technologist to manage safety, legality, quality, and sustainability across the product life cycle. You will lead supplier relationships and drive improvements in Product & Process within a hybrid office/Home setting at London Central Office in Pimlico.

The role requires experience in retail/manufacturing product development, testing and compliance, and a degree or equivalent training.

Qualifications

• Experience in a technical role in retail or manufacturing.
• Proven track record in product development.
• Experience in product testing and compliance.
• Experience with supplier engagement.
• Strong knowledge of garment and accessories construction.
• 3D fitting knowledge is desirable.
• A degree or equivalent industry training in an appropriate discipline.

Responsibilities

• Deliver compliant, safe, legal and the right quality product assortments.
• Set and communicate product specifications & standards, interpreting designs.
• Develop and implement the technical strategy into category plans.
• Review and approve product development against standards.
• Test and certify legal and performance standards, maintaining technical files.
• Support end-to-end product development from concept to delivery.
• Drive continuous improvement by analyzing supplier performance data.
• Collaborate with suppliers and stakeholders to ensure compliance.
• Manage raw material sustainability data and targets.
• Provide technical input to tenders and assortment reviews.
