Job summary

Gold Group is recruiting for a Principal Systems Engineer to join a defence client in Portsmouth on a hybrid basis, with 3+ days on site. Permanent role with a salary of 57,000 depending on experience plus a 10% bonus.

You will lead MBSE activities, manage requirements, architecture, and interface management across lifecycle; work with stakeholders; ensure safety and security obligations; and mentor engineers.

Qualifications

• Experience applying systems engineering across the full lifecycle.
• Proficiency with MBSE and modelling tools such as Enterprise Architect.
• Degree in a STEM field; aiming for CEng is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Understand problem space, define system interfaces and success criteria.
• Capture and trace requirements, manage changes with impact assessments.
• Champion MBSE governance and model-based outputs for design, V&V, and compliance.
• Lead technical reviews, manage risks, and mentor engineers.
