Job summary

Kenton Black Limited is seeking an experienced Preconstruction Manager to join the Warrington team. You will lead the preconstruction phase for major civil projects, coordinating bid teams and collaborating with clients, designers and supply chain partners to craft robust, compliant tender submissions.

Ideally you bring a strong civil engineering background, NEC contract knowledge, and proven leadership of multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Experience in preconstruction, bid management or project management in civil engineering.
• Strong understanding of infrastructure and civil project delivery.
• Experience across highways, structures, public realm, utilities or general civil engineering.
• Strong leadership and ability to manage multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management.
• Strong commercial awareness balancing risk, opportunity and client expectations.
• Experience managing complex tender/bid submissions; NEC contracts knowledge.
• Relevant degree or professional qualification in Civil Engineering or Construction Management advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead the preconstruction process from opportunity identification through to contract award.
• Manage multidisciplinary bid and preconstruction teams to deliver compliant tender submissions.
• Build and maintain relationships with clients, consultants, designers and supply chain partners.
• Drive value engineering, innovation, buildability, and sustainability during bids.
• Coordinate design development, estimating, planning, risk management and commercial input.
• Manage programme milestones and governance requirements.
• Identify and manage project risks, opportunities and key commercial considerations.
• Collaborate with operational teams to ensure smooth preconstruction to delivery transition.
