Job summary

Railpen in London or Darlington, with hybrid working arrangements, seeks an experienced Portfolio Manager (Functions) to shape, prioritise and govern the portfolio for the C&T Functions. You’ll translate business strategy into a deliverable portfolio, provide strategic insight, and deputise for the Director where appropriate.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in change delivery, strategic planning or leadership within a complex organisational environment.
• Experience delivering change across corporate functions with understanding of people, process, technology, data and operations.
• Strong strategic thinking and ability to translate strategy into a coherent portfolio of change.
• Strong portfolio management, prioritisation, sequencing, investment-planning and governance capability.
• Experience balancing objectives, delivery capacity, and risks to optimise portfolio outcomes.
• Stakeholder-management, influencing and facilitation skills with senior level credibility.

Responsibilities

• Partner with the Director of C&T to shape, optimise and govern the portfolio for the supported business area.
• Provide strategic insight, clear recommendations and evidence-based decision support for portfolio decisions.
• Lead portfolio prioritisation, sequencing and investment-planning activities.
• Maintain integrated view of portfolio status, budgets, capacity, risks, dependencies and opportunities.
• Oversee portfolio performance, delivery confidence, risks and benefits realisation.
• Facilitate portfolio trade-off discussions and adjust priorities when constraints arise.
• Maintain oversight of change demand, delivery capacity and organisational readiness.
