Job summary

Civic Recruitment Limited in Walsall invites applications for a Planning Technician to support the Planning & Building Control Service. The role covers validation, registration, technical support across Development Management and Local Land Charges, and preparation for Planning Committee meetings.

You'll interpret plans, liaise with applicants and architects, and ensure compliance with planning legislation and data protection.

Qualifications

• Experience in Planning, Development Management, Local Land Charges, or a similar technical field.
• Ability to read, interpret, and measure technical plans and drawings.
• Proficiency in using IT systems and databases.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational and workload management abilities.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Keen attention to detail and accuracy.
• Experience in a customer-focused environment.

Responsibilities

• Validate planning applications and register them accurately.
• Evaluate applications against legislation, policies, and guidelines.
• Assist Planning Committee operations and prepare presentation materials.
• Handle Local Land Charges searches and related documents.
• Maintain records and meet statutory deadlines.
