Job summary

Essential Employment in Walsall is seeking a Planning Technician on a full-time temporary basis. You will validate and register planning applications, review plans and fees, and provide technical advice to applicants, developers, architects, and the public.

You will also support Planning Committee meetings, process Local Land Charges searches, and maintain records across Development Management. The role requires delivering administrative and technical support in a busy planning service.

Responsibilities

• Validate and register planning applications, ensuring compliance with planning legislation and local policies.
• Review plans, drawings, reports, and calculate planning fees.
• Provide technical advice and support to applicants, developers, architects, and the public.
• Support Planning Committee meetings and prepare presentation materials.
• Process Local Land Charges and CON29 searches.
• Maintain accurate planning records, databases, and case management systems.
• Assist with planning appeals, consultations, and discharge of conditions applications.
• Deliver efficient administrative and technical support across Development Management and Planning Services.
