The Scottish Public Pensions Agency (SPPA) is seeking a Pensions Officer within our Technical Services team to design, build, test and maintain complex Excel-based calculation tools that underpin pensions, data and payroll processes. Working in a highly regulated environment, you will ensure calculators are accurate, auditable and version controlled.

Qualifications

• Proven pensions expertise within a regulated public sector environment.
• Experience building and maintaining complex Excel-based calculators.
• Ability to gather and translate requirements from technical and operational stakeholders.
• Ability to work in a regulated, auditable, version-controlled context.

Responsabilités

• Build and maintain complex Excel-based calculation tools with robust design and validation.
• Collaborate with calculation lead to ensure compliance and auditability of tools.
• Identify opportunities to streamline processes through calculator development and automation.
• Plan and execute testing with clear evidence of logic and changes for QA and audits.
• Diagnose issues, implement fixes and communicate impacts clearly.
• Support release management to deploy approved calculator versions only.
• Translate requirements into usable tools and explain technical decisions in plain language.
• Contribute to an improvement roadmap for standardisation and reliability.
