Job summary

Môrwell Talent Solutions is partnering with a Public Sector body to recruit a Part-Time Accountant to the Financial Services team in Torfaen, South Wales. The role covers corporate accounting, treasury, capital accounting and Pension Fund accounting within a local authority environment.

The organisation is open to either a temporary-to-permanent or permanent appointment. The 30‑hour week offers hybrid working with roughly one day in the office.

Qualifications

• Experience in accountancy or financial reporting.
• Local government/public sector experience preferred.
• Exposure to pension accounting or pension-related processes is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to annual statutory accounts and compliance with accounting standards.
• Support treasury management, including cash flow reporting and strategy adherence.
• Coordinate capital programme activity with financial reporting and treasury management.
• Undertake Pension Fund accounting including reporting and reconciliations.
• Prepare financial information, maintain reconciliations and ensure accurate records.
• Assist budgeting, monitoring, forecasting and variance analysis.
• Complete statutory and regulatory returns and claims on time.
• Liaise with internal and external auditors to ensure strong financial controls.
• Provide financial advice to colleagues and stakeholders.
• Support ongoing systems improvements and process development.
