Job summary

Môrwell Talent Solutions Ltd is partnering with a public sector body in South Wales to recruit a Part-Time Accountant to cover corporate accounting, treasury, capital and pension fund accounting. The role is 30 hours per week with hybrid working and a mix of home and approximately one day in the office.

You will be a fully qualified ACA/ACCA/CIPFA/CIMA accountant with local government or public sector experience, strong technical accounting knowledge and the ability to manage a varied workload

Qualifications

• ACA/ACCA/CIPFA/CIMA qualified.
• Demonstrable experience working in an accountancy or financial reporting environment.
• Experience within local government or the wider public sector. Not-for-profit sector experience may be transferable.
• Exposure to pension accounting or pension-related financial processes.
• Solid understanding of financial accounting principles, statutory reporting and financial controls.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and ability to manage priorities, work independently and meet deadlines.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the confidence to provide financial advice and collaborate with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Corporate accounting: prepare and publish annual statutory accounts in line with legislation and standards.
• Treasury management: support cash flow management, treasury reporting and compliance with strategy.
• Capital accounting: coordinate capital programme activity with financial reporting and treasury.
• Pension Fund accounting: pension fund reporting, reconciliations, and statutory returns.
• Financial reporting and reconciliations: maintain balance sheet reconciliations and reliable records.
• Budgeting and forecasting: assist with budgeting, monitoring and variance analysis.
• Statutory and regulatory returns: ensure timely, accurate submissions.
• Audit and compliance: liaise with auditors and maintain internal controls.
• Financial advice and support: provide clear financial guidance to colleagues.
• Systems and processes: support and improve financial systems and processes.
