Job summary

Asda Stores is seeking an experienced Observability Engineer to join the Cloud Platform Team in a hands-on role across enterprise observability and automation. You will improve reliability, performance and operational visibility for services across a large Azure estate, with New Relic, OpenTelemetry and IaC practices.

You'll collaborate with engineering teams to translate metrics into actionable insights, develop dashboards, alerts and governance, and contribute to standardisation across the

Qualifications

• New Relic in enterprise production environments.
• Microsoft Azure and Azure Monitor.
• OpenTelemetry.
• Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
• GitHub and Azure DevOps.
• Metrics, logs, traces and synthetic monitoring.
• Dashboard development, alerting and service health monitoring.
• Incident investigation and root cause analysis.
• Observability engineering, automation and platform support.

Responsibilities

• Build, support and continuously improve enterprise observability capabilities.
• Develop and maintain New Relic dashboards, alerts and service-level monitoring.
• Enhance Azure monitoring coverage across cloud platforms and applications.
• Deliver monitoring and observability solutions through Infrastructure as Code.
• Support incident investigation, troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
• Drive improvements in service reliability, availability and performance.
• Promote observability best practices across engineering teams.
• Contribute to automation and standardisation initiatives within the Cloud Platform Team.
