Job summary

VIQU IT has partnered with a large public sector organisation to support and develop its critical network infrastructure. This role offers ownership of network operations, infrastructure improvements and solution delivery.

We are seeking a Network Engineer with experience in complex environments, strong Cisco expertise and the ability to collaborate with architects, stakeholders and suppliers to ensure service standards and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Substantial hands-on Cisco network engineering experience.
• Experience in large, complex IT environments.
• Strong knowledge of SD-WAN, VLANs and routing.
• Experience with Azure, Azure vWAN, AWS and Zscaler.
• Knowledge of network monitoring tools (SolarWinds, Sentinel).
• Experience building and maintaining physical and virtual networks.
• Familiarity with Avaya telephony and network security.
• Understanding of ITSM and ISO 20000 principles.
• Strong troubleshooting, documentation and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to own technical tasks and work with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Support, maintain and improve physical and virtual network infrastructure.
• Configure, troubleshoot and optimise Cisco networking environments.
• Contribute to network design, implementation and documentation.
• Support SD-WAN, VLANs, routing and cloud networking technologies.
• Monitor network performance, security and service availability.
• Analyze business requirements and recommend technical solutions.
• Identify infrastructure risks and mitigate with appropriate controls.
• Collaborate with architects, stakeholders and suppliers.
• Ensure networking solutions meet compliance and service standards.
• Drive continuous improvement across the network.
