Job summary

MBDA UK's Digital Networks function is seeking a Network DevOps Engineer who can drive modernisation of network management through automated tooling and software-driven infrastructure. You will design, develop and maintain production-grade software (primarily Python) and CI/CD pipelines, integrate Ansible playbooks, and build tools that manage both physical and virtual networks at scale.

Qualifications

• Advanced proficiency in Python and software engineering concepts (OOP, patterns).
• Strong experience with Python testing methodologies and API testing.
• Experience designing and consuming REST/GraphQL APIs with Django REST Framework, FastAPI, or similar.
• Proficiency with JSON, YAML, Jinja2; data structures and templating.
• Understanding of DevOps, Agile methodologies, and Git/GitLab workflows.
• Practical experience with Ansible for network automation and configuration.
• Familiarity with core networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, routing, VLANs).

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain production-grade software and custom tools for network infrastructure.
• Champion software engineering best practices: code reviews, unit tests, maintainable code.
• Define and implement automated testing strategy and evaluate tools/frameworks.
• Extend network Source of Truth with data models, plugins, and automation jobs.
• Build and manage CI/CD pipelines to automate testing and deployment of network changes.
• Collaborate on Ansible playbooks and roles for network configuration and reliability.
• Upskill team members in software engineering techniques.
