Birchwell Associates is seeking a DevOps Engineer to own cloud infrastructure, deployment automation and operational tooling within a modern engineering environment in Manchester. You will collaborate with software engineers, platform and security teams to improve how services are built, deployed and monitored, delivering reliable, scalable systems with strong technical ownership.

Qualifications

• Strong commercial experience in a DevOps, platform, cloud or site reliability engineering role.
• Hands-on experience with AWS or Azure in a production environment.
• Experience with Terraform or another infrastructure-as-code tool.
• Strong knowledge of CI/CD, Git-based workflows and automated deployment practices.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes or a comparable container orchestration platform.
• Good scripting skills and confidence troubleshooting Linux, networking and application infrastructure issues.

Responsibilities

• Build, maintain and improve cloud infrastructure using infrastructure-as-code.
• Develop and support CI/CD pipelines that enable reliable, repeatable software delivery.
• Improve monitoring, logging, alerting and operational visibility across production systems.
• Work with software engineers to improve deployment practices, resilience and release confidence.
• Support containerised services and orchestration platforms across development and production environments.
• Contribute to security, backup, disaster recovery and operational best practice.
