Job summary

Randstad UK, in partnership with a large manufacturer, seeks a Material Planner for a 6-month contract in Peterborough. The role is hybrid, averaging 3 days per week, with 37.5 hours weekly and a rate of £17.95 per hour.

The ideal candidate will optimise inventory, align supply with demand, and collaborate across functions. Experience in materials planning, inventory control, and production scheduling is essential, with strong planning systems and data analytics skills.

Qualifications

• Experience in materials planning, inventory control, production scheduling or manufacturing.
• Ability to use planning systems to manage supply and demand.
• Analytical skills to determine optimal inventory investment.
• Ability to interpret complex data to solve problems.

Responsibilities

• Review materials planning panels daily to align supply with demand.
• Release new wholegoods purchase orders to ensure timely product availability.
• Review supplier order boards and keep planning systems updated with data.
• Manage purchase order changes and re-schedule for better lead times.
• Provide accurate planning dates to customer order management teams.
• Participate in end-to-end planning meetings to review open order boards.
• Communicate with plant account teams to ensure accurate lead time data.
• Perform supply and demand analysis for the next 12 months.
• Check planning parameters (min/max inventory, reorder points) and support PFEP.
• Use analytics to determine optimal inventory levels per policy.
