Job summary

Randstad CPE is partnering with a large manufacturer to recruit a Material Planner for a 6-month hybrid contract in Peterborough. The role focuses on optimising inventory, aligning supply with demand, and supporting cross-functional planning teams.

The ideal candidate will have experience in materials planning, inventory control, and production scheduling, with strong analytical skills to determine optimal inventory levels. This is a contract position with hybrid work expectations.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Review materials planning panels daily to align supply with demand.
• Release purchase orders to ensure timely product availability.
• Update supplier order boards and planning data.
• Manage PO change requests and reschedule for better lead times.
• Provide planning dates to customer order management teams.
• Participate in end-to-end planning team meetings to review open orders.
• Communicate lead times with plant account teams for accuracy.
• Conduct PFEP and review min/max inventory and reorder points.

Role Overview

Location: Peterborough, PE2

Working Pattern: Hybrid, requiring an average of 3 days a week

Duration: 6-month

Remuneration: £17.95 per hour

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Core Responsibilities

• Review materials planning panels daily to ensure supply aligns with demand
• Release new wholegoods purchase orders to ensure timely product availability
• Review supplier order boards and keep planning systems updated with relevant data
• Manage purchase order change requests and re-schedule them to secure better lead times
• Supply accurate information to customer order management teams to align planning dates
• Participate frequently in end-to-end planning team meetings to review open order boards
• Maintain good communication with plant account teams to ensure the provision of accurate lead time data
• Perform supply and demand analysis, highlighting areas of concern over the next 12 months
• Conduct quality checks on system planning parameters, including min/max inventory levels and re-order points, taking action to support the Plan for Every Part (PFEP)
• Use statistical analysis, collaborative cross-functional intelligence, and validated planning parameters to determine optimal inventory levels in accordance with the organisation's delegation of authority policy

The ideal candidate will demonstrate

• Relevant work experience through training or on-the-job experience in materials planning, inventory control, production scheduling, or manufacturing
• Strong ability to use materials planning systems to manage supply and demand plans, taking long-term corrective action on exception messages
• Skilled in using analytic and algorithms to determine optimal inventory investment levels across the end-to-end supply chain
• Demonstrates the ability to make sense of complex, high-quantity, and sometimes contradictory information to solve problems effectively
