Job summary

Castlewood School in Birmingham is recruiting a KS2/KS3 Class Teacher for a hybrid primary model, covering Year 7 core curriculum with SEMH support. The role offers progression through Main Scale / Upper Pay Scale with SEN1 and a permanent, full-time contract.

Start date January 2027 or earlier if possible. You will teach core subjects (English, Maths, Science) and non-core subjects across KS2 when Year 7 is taught by specialists while collaborating with KS2/KS3 teams to provide a seamless

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is required.
• Experience teaching primary and/or lower secondary pupils.
• Experience supporting pupils with SEMH or additional needs.
• Strong classroom management and behaviour support skills.
• Experience working in a specialist or alternative provision setting.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging lessons for pupils with additional needs.
• Use assessment and behaviour data to inform planning and track progress.
• Support social, emotional and behavioural development alongside academics.
• Create a safe, structured classroom with high behaviour expectations.
• Work across KS2/KS3 with subject specialists and pastoral teams.
• Contribute to the wider life and ethos of the school.
