Job summary

SSE plc is seeking a Junior Category Manager to join the central Infrastructure & Equipment Category Management team. The role focuses on Inspection & Testing Services and Maintenance, Repair & Operations, developing category strategies and driving value across SSE's spend.

You will report to the Senior Category Manager and work across stakeholders and suppliers to maximise savings, improve supplier performance, and reduce total cost of ownership.

Qualifications

• Proven procurement experience with cost negotiations and supplier contracts.
• Experience with formal sourcing processes and managing contractual risks.
• Strong influencing and stakeholder management across all levels.
• Commercial awareness, self-motivation and analytical skills to derive insights.
• Ability to meet deadlines and adapt priorities.

Responsibilities

• Support development and implementation of category strategies and drive spend under management.
• Conduct internal and external analysis and engage stakeholders to drive value creation.
• Engage with stakeholders and suppliers to maximise value and manage frameworks.
• Analyze spend per category to detail savings, risk and compliance.
• Contribute to touchless procurement through channel optimization and guided buying.
