Job summary

SSE plc is hiring a Junior Category Manager to join the central Infrastructure & Equipment Category Management team. The role spans Inspection & Testing Services and Maintenance, Repair & Operations, developing category strategies and increasing spend under management.

You will engage with stakeholders and suppliers throughout the procurement lifecycle, drive value opportunities, and help deliver supplier contract performance and risk management.

Qualifications

• A proven track record in Procurement, ideally CIPS qualified.
• Experience negotiating costs, contractual terms and performance measures for supplier contracts.
• Experience of formal sourcing processes and knowledge of contractual risks and mitigation.
• Excellent influencing and stakeholder management across all levels, with creative challenging.
• Strong commercial awareness, self-motivation, and ability to draw insights from data.

Responsibilities

• Report into the Senior Category Manager for Inspection & Testing and Maintenance, Repair & Operations; support category strategies and drive spend under management.
• Conduct internal and external analysis and engage stakeholders to drive value creation opportunities (sourcing strategies, process improvements, renegotiation strategies, dispute resolution).
• Engage with stakeholders and suppliers through the procurement lifecycle to secure optimal outcomes; manage framework agreements and preferred suppliers.
• Analyse spend per category to detail savings, risk, and compliance with the category plan; manage supplier contractual obligations and reduce risk.
• Contribute to touchless procurement through buying channel optimization and guided buying; understand category taxonomy and how to optimise.
