Job summary

National Grid plc is seeking a Senior Category Buyer to drive procurement strategies across the Innovation portfolio. You will partner with stakeholders across ET, ED, Legal and Procurement to secure innovative solutions and drive value.

The role includes supporting SIF and NIA funded projects, leading negotiations, and shaping sourcing strategies in a fast-paced environment. Hybrid working with office visits in Warwick are expected.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in procurement, strategic sourcing and category management.
• Experience leading complex sourcing projects and managing multiple priorities.
• Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills across all levels of an organisation.
• Experience of preparing for and leading commercial and contractual negotiations.
• Excellent analytical skills and ability to develop commercial assessment models.
• Contracts development and drafting experience.

Responsibilities

• Supporting the development and execution of category and sourcing strategies across the Innovation portfolio.
• Managing strategic sourcing activities from market engagement through to contract award.
• Building strong relationships with internal stakeholders to understand requirements and identify opportunities for value.
• Working with Legal and Innovation teams to support SIF and NIA funded projects.
• Leading commercial and contractual negotiations with suppliers to secure the best outcomes.
• Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement, innovation and cost optimisation across the supply chain.
• Researching supplier markets, trends, opportunities and risks to provide market intelligence.
• Supporting the development of forecasting and forward planning processes.
• Developing and managing contractual agreements that meet stakeholder needs while protecting National Grid's interests.
• Acting as a role model within Procurement and providing guidance to Buyers and Associate Buyers.
