Job summary

A local authority in Hampshire is seeking an experienced Interim Estates Surveyor to help manage and strategically develop its diverse property portfolio. The role suits a General Practice Surveyor or Estates Manager capable of handling landlord and tenant work, property transactions, and asset management.

You will support financial sustainability and community development, maximise asset performance, and liaise with various stakeholders. Hybrid working and a 6-month contract are on offer.

Qualifications

• MRICS/AssocRICS/FRICS qualification preferred or substantial relevant experience.
• Strong background in General Practice Surveying or estates management.
• Extensive landlord and tenant experience including rent reviews and lease negotiations.
• Knowledge of commercial property transactions and asset management.
• Experience managing a varied property portfolio and multiple instructions independently.
• Strong negotiation, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience in the public sector would be advantageous.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for business use.

Responsibilities

• Manage a varied commercial property and estates management caseload across the Council's portfolio.
• Undertake landlord and tenant work, including rent reviews, lease renewals and licences.
• Negotiate property transactions, including leases, easements, wayleaves and other property agreements.
• Provide professional property advice to support asset management, disposals and portfolio rationalisation.
• Support the annual asset valuation programme, coordinating information and inspections.
• Manage tenant relationships and resolve property-related issues.
• Support community asset transfers and alternative property management arrangements.
• Identify opportunities to maximise income, reduce expenditure and improve asset performance.
• Liaise with internal departments, solicitors, contractors and external stakeholders.
• Contribute to strategic property initiatives, including sustainability and renewable energy projects.
