Job summary

Avon Fire & Rescue Service is seeking an ICT Infrastructure Engineer to strengthen the resilience, security, and improvement of its hybrid ICT estate. You will support both cloud and on‑premise platforms and drive service improvements through standardisation, automation, and proactive monitoring.

The role focuses on transitioning ICT services in‑house, managing suppliers, and maintaining a robust security posture aligned with recognised standards to support frontline operations.

Qualifications

Experience managing hybrid ICT estates with cloud and on‑premises.
Knowledge of ISO 27001 / Cyber Essentials Plus.
Strong focus on security and least-privilege access.

Responsibilities

Oversee infrastructure operations as core accountability.
Ensure availability, performance, security, and reliability of core services.
Manage LAN/WAN including switching, routing, firewalls, and site connectivity across MPLS, VPN, internet breakout, and Azure environments.
Administer and optimise Azure IaaS and PaaS services, including virtual machines, networking, storage, and backup solutions.
Governance and compliance with ISO 27001 / Cyber Essentials Plus.
