Job summary

Mott MacDonald is seeking a Hydrologist to join our Water Consultancy Division, focusing on hydrology, climate resilience, and water resources modelling. You will contribute to projects across the UK with opportunities for career progression and mentoring.

The role supports hybrid working, balancing technical delivery with client engagement, and development across water sector challenges. You will work within a multidisciplinary team, applying rainfall-runoff modelling, climate projections, and

Qualifications

Degree in hydrology, geography, mathematics, civil engineering or related field.
Knowledge of low-flow hydrology and rainfall-runoff modelling; climate projections (UKCP18/CMIP5/6).
Willingness to innovate.
Excellent communication and written skills.
Understanding of UK water resources regulation is preferred.
Experience with Aquator/WEAP/Pywr is advantageous.
Coding or statistical techniques are beneficial.

Responsibilities

Low flow assessments and water systems modelling to define water availability during droughts.
Estimate changes in climate variables in the future using projections.
Flood hydrology studies considering climate change.
Hydropower feasibility studies including design floods and energy generation verification.
Climate change risk assessments of assets or portfolios.
Develop project management and business development skills alongside technical work.
