Job summary

Carrington West is seeking a Housing Solutions Officer in Redditch. The role is hybrid, requiring about 2 days in the office, and pays £30.00 per hour on a 3‑month initial contract.

The position focuses on preventing homelessness, assessing applications and delivering sustainable housing solutions for residents. You'll manage a varied caseload, make legally robust decisions and collaborate with landlords and agencies to achieve positive outcomes.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in homelessness, housing options, or housing advice service.
• Knowledge of Housing Act 1996 Parts VI & VII and Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.
• Experience handling complex homelessness applications and producing written decisions.
• Strong communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills with vulnerable residents.
• Excellent organisational, case management and IT skills, with landlord liaison experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage a designated caseload of homelessness applications with thorough assessments and legally compliant decisions.
• Provide specialist housing advice focusing on prevention, relief and access to sustainable accommodation.
• Assess statutory homelessness duties and arrange suitable temporary accommodation when required.
• Work with private landlords, internal teams and external agencies to identify housing options and resolve complex cases.
• Prepare accurate case records, decision letters and reports with safeguarding and high service standards.
